With its new factory investment, Çengel İplik has increased its production capacity and aims for growth both nationally and internationally over the next five years. Reşit Çengel, General Manager of Çengel İplik, stated that their primary goal is to integrate digital transformation and Industry 4.0 applications into their production processes, with further investments planned for 2025.
What factors underpin your success in the yarn industry?
We embrace a customer-focused production approach, continuously analyzing their expectations and needs while prioritizing quality. By closely following technological advancements, we modernize our processes and increase efficiency. The motivation and harmony within our team, comprising over 1,000 employees, also play a vital role in this success. Paying attention to detail and operating with environmental consciousness are among the values that will ensure the sustainable growth of Çengel İplik for years to come.
How would you evaluate 2024?
In the 2024 OSB Stars research conducted by OSBÜK, which includes 403 organized industrial zones and over 60,000 industrial enterprises across Turkey, Çengel İplik Tekstil once again demonstrated its success. Among the companies with the highest sales growth, we ranked 4th in GOSB and 46th nationwide. In the category of companies with the highest employment growth, we ranked 3rd in GOSB and 19th nationwide. These achievements highlight our brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Will you continue investing after the new facilities? What strategic steps did you take when deciding to enter the polyester yarn production sector?
Our transition into industrial investment is part of our company’s growth objectives. We decided to invest in the latest technologies and efficient production methods. This process included not only equipment investments but also training and development programs for our team. Furthermore, we adopted an environmentally friendly and sustainable production approach by using energy-efficient machines. This perspective has allowed us to achieve a stronger position in the market.
Before starting production, we conducted detailed analyses of the market and potential competitive environment, taking into account global trends and local demands. Subsequently, we focused on building a strong infrastructure and keeping up with technological developments. We also established training programs and expert teams to enhance workforce development. As a result, we entered the industry with solid foundations and accurate analyses, enabling long-term success.
What factors influenced your journey to this point?
Expanding our production capacity in 2017 and 2018 was a crucial step in our growth journey, albeit one fraught with challenges. Increasing capacity required significant investments in new machinery and equipment. These investments boosted our production efficiency and profitability in the long run. Additionally, expanding production volume necessitated increased employment, which posed its own challenges. Strengthening our organizational structure and ensuring team coordination were critical phases during this period. Despite these difficulties, the benefits we reaped were immense.
What are your goals for the next five years? What innovations are planned in terms of capacity expansion and product diversification?
Over the next five years, we aim to grow both nationally and internationally with a vision focused on four key areas: increasing production capacity and export rates, developing innovative products, investing in sustainable practices, and supporting employee development. To this end, we will focus on expanding our machinery fleet and strengthening our technological infrastructure.
Our future technology investments will aim to both boost production capacity and lead industry innovations. Our first goal is to integrate digital transformation and Industry 4.0 applications into our operations. Under our Polyester 4.0 project, we plan to use smart production technologies to make our processes more efficient, faster, and error-free. In terms of energy efficiency, we will continue to adopt environmentally friendly production technologies that reduce our carbon footprint. Integrating renewable energy sources into our production processes is also among our future objectives. Lastly, we aim to use advanced technology equipment and software to develop innovative yarn types.
