A 50-year-old dream of Isaac Asimov, famous sci-fi writer, is produced by Philips. OneSpace Luminous Ceiling systems are used in innovative lighting of stores.
Expert in lighting field, Philips launched its innovative luminous ceiling panels that covers ceilings with homogenous with light. First introduced at Light & Building Fair in Frankfurt held between 30 March and 4th April, the concept was first published in a New York Times article in 1964 by Isaac Asimov, the world’s most famous science fiction writer. Asimov has wrote, “By 2014, use of electroluminasense panels will be spread and ceilings and walls will shine with soft lights.”
In this innovative product, Philips has integrated LED lighting technology with textiles to produce a homogenous lighting panel that hides the source of light behind. So, a homogenous and smooth lighting is produced. Goktug Gur, CEO of Philips Turkey, says, “the innovation will change the use of lighting in design and architecture completely. Lighting is no longer not a separate part of spaces, but it is an imbedded part of architectural design. Even ceilings become an object of design with this minimalistic ultra thin lighting panel. Berna Yala, communication manager of Philips Turkey, said, “We offered other innovative products of our company such as Philips Hue besides this product in the Light & Building Fair in Frankfurt. We keep developing new products and innovative solutions in the sector with our 120 years of experience in the fields of innovation, research and design.”
Philips OneSpace Luminous Ceiling is composed of a network of LED that were hide behind the textiles to provide both a homogenous lighting and to absorb noise and it serves as a ceiling. It is produced up to the all requirements of safety of the building. The architects who participated in the post production tests of the product, expressed their feelings with the words as “soothing”, “tranquilled” and “sky”.
